The EB-1A “Extraordinary Ability” Visa is an employment-based category visa that allows you to obtain your own green card without a job offer or a labor certification (PERM). This applies to aliens with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. What are the qualifications for the EB 1-A Visa?

To qualify for the EB1-A, the applicant must meet at least three (3) of the ten (10) criteria listed below or provide proof of a major or internationally recognized award such as an Oscar, a Pulitzer, an Olympic Medal, etc.

In addition, the applicant must provide evidence showing that he will continue to work in the United States according to the field of experience. 

1. Evidence of receipt of lesser nationally or internationally recognized prizes or awards for excellence in the field of endeavor;
2. Evidence of the applicant’s membership in associations in the field with outstanding achievement of their members as judged by recognized national or international experts of their discipline;
3. A published material about the applicant in professional or major trade publications or other media which includes the title, date, and author of the material; 
4. Evidence of the applicant’s participation as a judge of the work of others whether individually or on a panel;
5. Original Scholarly, Artistic, Athletic, Scientific, or business-related contributions to the field; 
6. Evidence of authorship of scholarly articles in professional or major trade publications or other major media;
7. Evidence of displayed works at artistic exhibitions or showcases; 
8. Evidence of critical roles or leading performance in a distinguished organization;
9. Evidence of a high salary or other significantly high earnings in relation to others in the field; or
10. Evidence of commercial successes in the performing arts.
