USCIS Extends EADs for TPS Beneficiaries from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the extension of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan. These EADs are now valid through March 9, 2025. Affected individuals will receive a Form I-797, Notice of Action, to notify them of this extension.
Re-registration Requirements
Current TPS beneficiaries from these countries must re-register for TPS during the current re-registration periods to maintain their status and benefits. The re-registration periods for each country are as follows:
El Salvador: Through March 9, 2025
Honduras: Through July 5, 2025
Nepal: Through June 24, 2025
Nicaragua: Through July 5, 2025
Sudan: Through April 19, 2025
It is important to note that although the re-registration periods end on different dates, the validity of EADs for all beneficiaries is extended uniformly until March 9, 2025.
Action Steps
Beneficiaries who have not yet re-registered under the most recent extension for their country must submit Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, during the current re-registration period. Detailed instructions on how to re-register for TPS and renew EADs can be found in the latest Federal Register notice specific to each country’s TPS extension or redesignation.
For more information and detailed guidance, beneficiaries should refer to the USCIS website or the latest Federal Register notice related to their country.
